I know I’m supposed to be offended...but I take it as a high compliment to be among an esteemed group including CSPI’s Dr. Michael Jacobson and the New York City Board of Health’s Thomas Frieden. They’re heroes in the fight to reverse the obesity trend.

So what’s the honor--or offense--I should say? The Center for Consumer Freedom; (aka, lobbyists for junk food and soft drink makers, and the same folks who fronted so long for the cigarette industry), well they’ve gone and voted me one of the most hated “nannies” of 2007 for NAAO’s work in expelling junk food from schools, eliminating obesity and disease-accelerators from America’s food supply and breaking the obesity cycle. Seems our efforts are bad for business...

The CCF writes twisted, yet pithy, articles about NAAO pretty frequently. So to Richard “Rick” Berman and the entire CCF for voting me one of the most-hated food cops, food nazis, nannies of 2007, I thank you! And I accept your award with honor. Please keep me in mind for next year, and every year after.
